This summer, the Managing Director of Axis Recruitment is gathering his friends to take part in a very special hike, in order to raise much-needed money for charitable causes.
On the 4th of July 2011, Glen Walsh of Axis Recruitment will be leaving the comfort and warmth of his desk behind in order to attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves scaling the three highest mountains in Britain: Scaffell Pike (978m), Snowdon (1085m) and Ben Nevis (1344m), in just 24 hours!
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves a total of around 26 miles of mountain ascent and descent, plus 465 miles of travel in between.
But Glen won’t be facing this gruelling task alone. The head of the Chester-based recruitment company will be joined by six of his closest friends. Together, they will be attempting to climb to the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just one day. It proves likely to be a gruelling task, so why are Glen and his friends putting themselves through it?
Glen, plus Gary O’Reilly, Peter Heaney, Dave Dennehy, Mark Abbott, Lee Lynch, Robin Crimes and Darren Adams, also known as ‘The Chester Boys,’ are taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise funds for several charitable organisations.
• Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey (registered charity No. 1008765)
• Claire House Children’s Hospice (registered charity No. 1004058)
• Hospice of the Good Shepherd (registered charity No. 515516)
• Cancer Research UK (registered charity No. 1089464)
• Leukemia & Lymphoma Research (registered charity No. 216032)
All of these good causes will benefit from the money raised by the Chester Boys, who are also being supported by Axis Recruitment.
By taking part in this potentially exhausting excursion, Glen and his team of intrepid mountaineers will be helping sick children and adults, plus their families to live in relative comfort, and help towards groundbreaking research that aims to stamp out these dreadful diseases once and for all.
The Chester Boys will be starting their quest at the base of Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, before moving onto Scafell Pike in Northern England and ending at the base of Snowdon, in North Western Wales.
With the invaluable support of their friends, families, local Chester businesses, including Axis Recruitment plus many of the wonderful general public, Glen and his friends aim to raise a significant amount of money for their five chosen charities.
Axis Recruitment would like to wish Glen and the Chester Boys all the very best of luck and success with their mission, and to wish them all a very speedy recovery upon their return from what is sure to be a physically testing 24 hours. Photographic evidence of their National Three Peaks Challenge attempt will be posted on the Axis Recruitment website as soon as Glen is returned safely back to us.
If you would like to make a donation towards the Chester Boys’ National Three Peaks Challenge attempt, you can do so online by visiting http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/threepeakschesterboys or you can call Glen Walsh of Axis Recruitment on 01244 404 800 for more information.

We have worked with Axis Direct Sales since November 2009. Before our initial conversation with Axis we had used a number of different methods in which to recruit Self Employed Direct Sales Professionals and after meeting with Axis we gave them the opportunity to work on a number of our vacancies. We challenged them to place 15 people with us within 3 months, taking into account the difficult period of recruiting over November and the Christmas period, we thought 15 would certainly be a challenge for any recruiter.
On 8th January 2010 Axis had placed 27 Direct Sales Agents with our business and this was only after working with us for 9 weeks!
As another example of their service, in August 2010 we hired 14 Direct Sales Agents, Axis placed 10, my team placed 3 and the 3 other agencies we use only placed 1 candidate between them. It is fair to say that we have been very impressed by Axis and we only use other agencies for the 1% of roles Axis do not fill.
We find their team to be friendly, professional and flexible to our ever-changing needs. They continue to provide us with high quality candidates and we consider Axis to be a genuine business partner to the RAC, now and going forward.
